The MASH Test Level 4 (TL4) testing category requires impacts with the following three (3) vehicles:

  • 1100kg passenger car travelling at 100km/h.
  • 2270kg pick-up truck travelling at 100km/h.
  • 10,000kg rigid truck travelling at 90km/h.

The 1100kg passenger car impact is intended to evaluate the primary concerns of vehicle under-ride, wheel snag, rollover and occupant impact severity.

The 2270kg pick-up truck impact is intended to evaluate vehicle containment and stability. These vehicles with a high-centre-of-gravity present a high rollover risk when compared to smaller vehicles.

The 10,000kg rigid truck impact evaluate the capacity of the barrier system and the ability to contain and redirect heavy vehicles. The rigid truck is less stable than passenger vehicles and vulnerable to rollover.
